What you can do is load the tones into a sampler on your DAW of choice, then assign the buttons on the LPD8 to trigger the samples. After that you can assign the knobs to control some effects to manipulate the sound. It'll give you a lot of options, but sampling directly is not one of them.

LPD8 isn’t a sampler so it can’t store anything. My whole pad set was stuck against the sensors. Couldn't figure out why all my drum sounds were getting triggered at the same time when I hit the X,Y pad. Go to any online instrument store and you'll find a million of the same reviews. The nanoPAD is a complete waste of money; shoddy, shoddy build. Some people went through two, three units before finally throwing them under a train and buying the Akai. I still use the nanoKontrol--which has been pretty solid for me and covers my portable midi control needs--so I haven't broken down and spent the extra couple bucks for the Akai yet, but should the need arise, that will be my next buy.

That is the story with a lot of users, myself included.
